Korean Drama – Playful Kiss

Anniyo (Korean for hello 🙂 )

Playful Kiss – This is the korean serial which I have got totally addicted to recently, all thanks to my little sister. In the beginning when she mentioned to me about this serial, I was not very sure how she could get interested in a language as alien as korean, even though there would be english subtitles. But then, when I started watching it, surprisingly I got attached to the story within the episode itself.

The story is based on a Japanese Manga (cartoon) called Itazurana Kiss. There have been Taiwanese, Japanese and Korean adaptations of the same. But then after watching this, I dont think I would want to watch any of the others. The story is on Highschool back-ground, where our lead girl – Oh Ha Ni, is in love with the School Stud – Baek Seung Jo(who is indifferent to her) and how she finally wins his heart.

The story sounds like a routine romantic drama, but then there is some magic which will have you glued to it. I would say the main credit would go to the main leads – Oh Ha Ni (played by Jung So Min)  and Baek Seung Jo (played by Kim Hyun Joong) and another important character Boong Jung Gu.

Oh Ha Ni is this innocent, cute and stupid girl who is in love with Baek Seung Jo since 4 years. She is so innocent and so pure and the way she follows Baek Sung Jo inspite of him being mean to her and ignoring her – you will absolutely fall in love with her.

Baek Seung Jo is completely opposite to Oh Ha Ni. He is this every girl’s fantasy. He is drop-dead-gorgeous, smart, genius with an IQ of 200 and arrogant. In the beginning he hardly acknowledges Oh Ha Ni, but with time, he starts liking her stupid acts and all that she gets into just to wil his love. In the process, he also discovers how to have fun in life and also his career goal.

Boong Jung Gu is Oh Ha Ni’s classmate who is in love with her, but knows that she has only Baek Seung Jo in her mind. He is a cute guy and his antics are fun to watch.

Totally, the entire plot of how Oh Ha Ni tries to get Baek Seung jo’s attention, how Baek Seung Jo teases her, ignores her and at the same time secretly smiles at her stupid acts is lovely and refreshing. Along wih this, I have started loving the Korean language too. It sounds sooo cuteee

If you want to sit back, relax and enjoy a weekend, this is the ideal one…

Annyonghi Kesayo….:)
