The Quintessential Vampire…Stephanie Meyer’s – Edward Cullen..

Charming..soft..caring…on one side and dangerous..intense…ferocious at the same time..

He has changed the very image of vampires – from dreadful creatures that lurk in the nights to the most beautiful, heavenly person every teenage girl would fall in love with…

Am pretty impressed with how Robert Pattison was able to bring alive the character of Edward Cullen… This was the sketch I made when I was vampire crazy (when Twilight – Eclipse was released)…

The rival werewolf – Jacob is also on the way!!!!

Mood off ??!! 10 simple ways to snap out of it….

Nowadays, life is exceptionally stressful for each and everyone. Whatever the reason be – stress at work, stress at home or personal issues all of us go through these series of mood swings.. There are times, when we feel mood off and do not actually know the reason behind. But then, think about it, why would you want to waste so many hours just wallowing…Life is precious and no reason however big it might be has the right to take it away from us… Here are some tips which I use to lift up my mood when I feel let down…

  • Cry your heart out – If something is bothering you too much, don’t hold it in. Cry your heart out until there is no more burden remaining in your heart. Now try doing any of the below mentioned ideas and see how your mood soars-up.



  • Sleep over the cause – Best way of escaping the gloom. Tell yourself that you will think about the matter later and happily take a nice nap. You will feel absolutely refreshed after a nice sound sleep.



  • Treat yourself – If something/someone has upset you, so you really have to waste your time for that. Agreed!! You do feel bad about it..So how about do something good for yourself. Do anything you like.  For girls, shopping always comes to rescue. You need not shell money, go out, do window shopping…try out new dresses and even if you just buy cheap junk stuff…it will still make you happy (experience speaks!!!)                                            If you are a food junkie…for once forget about the carbs and treats yourself to your favourite dish – be it burgers, pizzas, icecreams, biryani…wat not!!!


  • Chocolate – Yes..a separate bullet for chocolate itself..Chocolate does help a lot in elevating the mood. Indulge in the sinful chocolate and see how all your worries will vanish in a jiffy..



  • Music – If you are a music lover, you have music to the rescue. Its true that music can heal, given that you have the “ear for it”. Listen to your favorite music…you would be mesmerized and immersed in its glory that rest of the worldly issues would seem microscopic..



Books – If you are a book-lover, then pick the right book for you and get immersed in it. Make sure you don’t pick a book dealing with story similar to your current situation, so that you don’t end up again thinking about it. Best choice according to me would be works of fiction or suspense or detective novels.



  • Movies – Another good friend of everyone is “movies”. Pick your favorite movie and enjoy it. I prefer watching comedy or rom-coms – you place yourselves in the protagonists’ characters and laugh along with them. Laugh out loud and let out all the stress.


Hobbies – Remind yourselves of your hobbies, there is a reason they are your hobbies – you loving pursuing them. So go for it – be it painting, drawing, singing, playing, gardening, cooking, reading, writing/blogging, browsing…. Wow!!! There are sooo many options…



  • Meet-up with friends – Spend time with your buddies (need not be just your friends…it can be your parents or kids too)….Try to forget about this issue and concentrate on just having fun..It works!!!



Visit an orphanage/old age home – Another effective option – visit an orphanage/old age home…spend some time with them…try identifying with their issue and try to appreciate the way they are living happily inspite of the troubles. Try doing something meaningful – donating money or food or simply spending time with them, listening to them, playing with kids, teaching them…you will feel happy, satisfied and without your knowledge absolutely forget about your worries.


Next time you feel down….try these out and cheer-up. Life is too short to waste time in worrying…

Dream come true – Sonu Niigam Live in Bangalore!!!

Yesterday evening was when my Dream came true…I always wanted to see and hear Sonu Niigaam Live..atleast once in my life time…and my wish came true yesterday when we went to see his Live Concert in Bangalore.

It was during my college days that I first listened to his songs…with his album “Deewana” – you can say I became one…Instantly fell in love with his voice….There is sooo much feel in his voice that I never felt in any other voice till then..I love all his songs…Any type of it classical, romantic, melody or fast number he simply outperfoms…

I was all excited to watch and hear him live… The whole place was jam-packed with people..Wow!!! when he entered, the whole stadium burst out with cheers and screams of people…his fans!!!  It was wat u call “screaming your hearts out”… It was amazing…he sang all the beautiful songs and also made the audience sing with him….2 hours just flew away without our knowledge.. It was awesome!!!  I am still not able to get over that frenzy… Cant stop smiling to myself….

Now that this wish of mine is granted…I think I can make another wish 😛 …to be able to meet him in person and talk to him…. God!!! u r hearing me now, right!!!

till then…Long Live Sonu Niigam!!! you are absolutely talented and wonderful…. You deserve all the best things in life!!!

Childhood games

Today on the way to office, I saw couple of kids playing on the streets which reminded me of my childhood. Me and my sister had a gap of just 2 yrs and so, she was always my play-companion. Still, we had a large group of friends with whom we used to play all sorts of games. As soon as we were back from school, we used to run downstairs to play with friends. But the time my youngest sister came, the tradition was gone. Kids never came out and played. They were busy with home-works or computer games…a pity!!

Here are some of the games that I can remember. I am sure these games are universal 🙂

Hopscotch –  There was a time of the year when hopscotch fever would catch up everyone..The object which we used to use to drop, we used to call it “chippi”. It is nothing but a small piece of broken tile. We were crazy about these “chippi”s and used to really prize their possession. There was also the part where the losing person should hand over their chippi to the winner. The person with the most number of “chippis” is the winner. I still remember mom getting irritated with loads and loads of these useless stones which we used to collect and also safely treasure.

Thief-police – This was one of my favorites where a set of people become the police and another set – the thieves. The thieves are supposed to hide and run away and the police are to catch them. Then there was the part where we used to add a bit of story-line to the game –  of how the thieves steal something in the police station itself and how the police are happily asleep without noticing this and how the chase begins. There were strategies made on how to catch the thieves, or how to escape the police…Brings in the creativity of the kids too..

Hide and seek – Another favourite of mine, which I was always bad at though. The denner counts till 50, and meanwhile all the players have to go and hide. The denner has to seek each of them and once everyone is found, the game is over. The person who was found out first becomes the seeker again.

Help – Another fun game which also makes kids learn about helping people at the same time not putting one’s self in jeopardy. There is a denner and then the players are odd in number. The concept is the denner comes looking to catch someone, and the players are safe as long as they have a partner. So, the person left alone shouts for “help” and then someone from the secure pair gives up their partner to save this person. Then the denner goes to catch the other left-out person who in turn keeps running trying to escape the denner and also asking for help at the same time.

Catch n cook – not sure why it is called that way, but thatz how we used to call it. It’s the basic catching game..full of enery and full of fun

Land and water –  In this game, the entire space is divided into land  and water…the denner gets to chose whether he wants land or water. The players then have to move on the denner’s territory without getting caught ..they are safe as long as they are in their territory.. We had some quirky quotes also to tease the denner …don’t ask me what they mean… “aloo ka paratha…chapathi ka ooo..” and in telugu we used to say “ni nelantha arigi karigi poindi le (meaning your areas is becoming worn out…”

London statue – a fun game where the players have to remain as statues without moving and the denner has to observe and catch the person who even moves a bit…we used to have fun giving different poses when the denner says “London Statue”

Color-color – This was another fun game which I absolutely loved… The denner randomly gives a name of the color and all the players have to catch some object with that color. If they fail to catch something, the denner has a chance to catch that person . Once he gets caught, he becomes the next denner. Simple and fun way for kids to learn about colors.

There are other fun games like computer, fire on the mountain, word building, country building, gilli danda, kabaddi, kho-kho, oranges and lemon, ring-a-ring of roses, teacher-teacher, doctor-doctor, kitchen set, marbles game…i can just go on and on…then there are the indoor games like monopoly, caroms, chess, brainvita….wow..looking back, I sure had lots of fun…

so..parents now should take it on them, to introduce their childhood games to their kids. Outdoor activity is very good to make them sharper. Otherwise they are going to miss a lot of fun. “Why should only we have all the fun…..let today’s kids also have them 🙂 “

Gastric problem home remedies

Indigestion is the most often seen problem of modern times. The most common issue is Gastritis. The symptoms of this ailment would be acid reflux or heartburn, pain in the abdomen, excessive burping, puking or vomiting, nausea and difficulty in releasing gas.

The causes that underlie gastric problem could be fast eating without good chewing, heavy meals, and excessive intake of alcohol, stress, anxiety and intake of strong drugs.

If you are worrying that there is no other way than to consult a physician, here are some useful tips that help you encounter your problem better .

Soups, taken at least 20 minutes before meals helps in digestion, as they are ideal for replacing liquids and salts as well as stimulating the production of gastric acid.

Drinking water with two three drops of mint essence gives relief.

Lime juice, taken with cider vinegar in a glass of water before meals, helps to prevent acid in digestion.

Ginger tea, taken after meals aids in promoting digestion

Herbal tea prepared using blackberry, raspberry, mint and chamomile helps effective digestion

Baking soda in a glass of water, produces instant relief

Sucking cloves after meals, aids in reducing gas problems

A flake of garlic swallowed with water in empty stomach, solves gas problems

Soaking little methi in water in the night and drinking it empty stomach in the morning, is also an effective remedy for indigestion.

Avoidance of wearing tight clothes, a daily walk of about a half an hour, non engagement in active sports immediately after meals, regular exercise and most importantly, timely meals and good chewing are a few suggestions for keeping indigestion at par.

Adherence to at least a few of these tips would keep indigestion at bay. If the problem is acute it is advisable to consult a physician.
