Revenge wears Prada – book review

All those who are fans of the “Devil wears Prada” , will definitely enjoy this book.

I was very very excited and was waiting to get it in my hands when I ordered this book. I must the say the start is a bit slow and it takes a bit of time to hold on to the book.. it takes some time for the story to build up.

But soon you will get involved in Andy and how her life turned out after quitting “the Runway” .

Lot of unexpected things happen – she becomes best friends with Emily ( her arch-nemesis in runway) , gets married, has a baby and becomes a successful entrepreneur. The revenge comes in the form of Miranda Priestly who enters her life again and threatens to take away all the happiness… Will she able to escape or once again succumb to Miranda – is basically the story line

It is not bad, not very boring but was not up to my expectations..given the story in the first book, I expected more drama and more plot twists… But if u r a fan of the series, catch the book with a cup of tea and read away..

Journey down the memory lane

This weekend we planned to visit my aunt. I looked at the train tickets and it was just 3 hours journey. Booked them and was looking forward to the journey. After a long time was travelling in a train, thanks to mom 🙂

Next day we had our lunch and reached the railway station half an hour in advance. Looked for the platform number and saw our train waiting there. We looked for our coach number and got settled in our seats.. obviously me next to the window.

It definitely brought back lot of memories and we started recalling the days when we used to travel in train for more than a day from nellore to mumbai. We were kids then and always looked forward to this travel during summer holidays. Mom packed yummy pulihora, chapatis, tomato curry and we also got to eat stuff they sell from the pantry. We also packed small board games, playing cards for time pass.

Me and my sister used to get on to the upper berth and start playing there – cards, antakshari, snakes and ladders, Ludo etc etc.. all our meals were supplied to the upper berth, cool drinks, ice creams everything.. we felt like queens…

Another aspect we loved was the books we could buy in the station and read through the journey. Our favourites were Tinkle, Champak, Gokulam, Chacha Chowdary..

At times, if there was any other family travelling along with us, we used to get company to play. Mom was always good in making friends in a minute 🙂

In the night we loved to have a complete berth for ourselves (middle berth preferred :P) as dad setup our bed ..one layer of blanket as bedsheet, inflatable pillow and a cozy blanket.

While I was lost in my thoughts, the train had already moved …the samosa guy came selling yummy samosas, and both mom and me loved onion samosas. This is what we love about train journey. You can never be bored. As we were chatting away all sorts of topics, then came the chai guy. While we had our chai, mom started conversation with the people in front of us. We talked about random topics – weather in Bangalore, traffic etc etc..

Before we knew we reached our destination, though the train got delayed by more than an hour of the scheduled time. Thus ended one lovely nostalgic train journey 🙂
